A clip of the segment was shared on ABC World News Tonight’s Instagram account along with the caption, “Conservative activist Charlie Kirk, 31, has died after being shot while holding a rally at visiting Utah Valley University. Kirk was a major force in the MAGA movement and President Trump ordered flags to be lowered. Matt Gutman has the latest.”

Viewers flooded the post with comments as they shared their upset over the situation. One user commented, “Going through all these comments, I realize we all have our own opinions about this poor man’s death – and that’s okay.”

They continued, pointing out, “But what breaks my heart is that he died simply for having an opinion. His death was filmed, and one day his children will see those videos. The thought of that makes me sick.”

One user commented, “I don’t agree with everything he said but all this man did was practice his 1st amendment and express his opinions and beliefs which is what the entire internet is doing right now, yet it cost him his life and most do not see the irony behind it. Rest in peace Charlie.

“Violence is never the answer. Those that celebrate it in any way deserve a special spot in hell,” another person stated. A third user expressed, “This is tragic. My heart breaks. Charlie was an amazing talent.”

However, some comments weren’t as sympathetic towards Charlie’s death, instead focusing on another heartbreaking news story, stating, “Let’s talk about the real tragedy of the day – the shooting of innocent kids at Evergreen High School.
