It was an extraordinary on-air moment that stopped Sky News in its tracks. Presenter Jayne Secker was forced to interrupt the live broadcast for a breaking update about Prince Andrew, moments after the network reportedly uncovered new details linked to a former royal protection officer.
Addressing viewers, Secker announced:
“We start with breaking news. Sky News has discovered that a current senior member of the King’s household was the head of Royal Protection at the time Prince Andrew allegedly asked one of his police officers to dig up information about Virginia Giuffre.”
She identified the figure as Lord Peter Rosslyn, now known as Lord Stewart, who serves as personal secretary to King Charles and Queen Camilla. Between 2003 and 2014, he was head of Royalty and Diplomatic Protection — the very period during which the alleged request took place.
“It’s not clear whether Commander Peter Loughborough, as he was then known, was made aware of Prince Andrew’s request,” Secker added.
Lord Rosslyn, once described as the late Queen Elizabeth II’s “favourite policeman,” later became Master of the Household for the then Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall in 2014.
Sky News reached out to Lord Rosslyn for comment. Buckingham Palace later issued a brief statement, saying:
“As Lord Rosslyn now works for the Royal Household, this matter has been referred to us. However, since it concerns his time with the Metropolitan Police, they would be the appropriate body to address such inquiries.”
💥 Shocking Development in the Ongoing Prince Andrew Saga
The breaking news comes amid renewed scrutiny surrounding Prince Andrew, who has reportedly relinquished his remaining royal titles and honours, including his Duke of York title, following the latest fallout connected to the Epstein scandal.
According to reports by The Mail on Sunday, an email allegedly sent by Prince Andrew to one of his police bodyguards instructed the officer to “dig up damaging information” on Virginia Giuffre, the woman who accused him of sexual assault.
The publication claimed that Andrew even supplied the officer with Giuffre’s date of birth and social security number to aid in the alleged inquiry.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed:
“We are aware of the reports and are currently reviewing the claims.”
🕯️ A Scandal That Refuses to Fade
The controversy adds yet another chapter to the Duke’s long-running public downfall.
In 2022, Prince Andrew paid millions to settle a US civil sexual assault case filed by Ms Giuffre — though he has repeatedly denied all allegations and maintained that the settlement was not an admission of guilt.
Ms Giuffre, who tragically died by suicide at the age of 41 in April, had claimed she was trafficked by financier Jeffrey Epstein and forced to have sex with the prince on three occasions, including when she was just 17.
Despite distancing himself from royal duties, Prince Andrew remains at the centre of controversy, with Buckingham Palace, the Met Police, and public opinion all under pressure following this latest revelation.
👀 Royal Fallout Continues
The story has once again shaken the monarchy, as questions mount over who within the royal household knew what, and when.
With King Charles III reportedly determined to draw a line under past scandals, this latest twist threatens to reignite a storm the Palace had hoped was over.
As investigations continue and the Met reviews the claims, many royal watchers believe this could be the most serious development yet in the Duke’s ongoing troubles.
